Do you have Quattro Pro or know someone who does? If so, save the .wb2 file as a .wq1 file. Excel can read this format.
There is a free online service that claims to be able to convert Quattro Pro files: Media Convert. I don't know if it actuall handles .wb2 files (and if your data are confidential, you may not want to use an online service).
Hans,
Good man - appreciate the speedy response.
Couple of points :
1. These files are sensitive - so the online service is not an option.
2. There are literally thousands of these .wb2 files - is there a way of batching these together for conversion to .wq1 files or even better directly to .xls?
TIA.
DataViz Conversions Plus can convert Quattro Pro files to Excel, and it has a batch mode. It's a commercial product, i.e. not free, but if you have to convert thousands of files, it's probably worth the price.
