Calculation on Report (Access 2002)

I have an accounts receivable DB on the report for each customer Balance =([Total Withdrawals]-[Total Discounts])-[Total Deposits] . I'm trying to calculate a grand total and when I do Grand Total = Sum([Balance]) I'm receiving a enter box for "Balance". What am I leaving out? Thanks a bunch!

Yep, that's correct. If you want to perform a calculation in the report footer in a report, you have to perform it on the fields from the record source, not on a calculated control in the detail section.

Alternatively, you could have placed a second text box txtRunSum with Control Source

    =([Total Withdrawals]-[Total Discounts])-[Total Deposits]

in the detail section, and set its Running Sum property to Over All and its Visible property to No. Put a text box in the report footer with Control Source

    =[txtRunSum]

I guess I just needed to talk it out.. It's =Sum(([WithdrawalAmount]-[DiscAmount])-[DepositAmount]) .. Thanks for allowing me to Talk OUT LOUD!
