upper case only & validation (2003)

    Loungers

I have a spreadsheet where I want all text to be uppercase when entered. I'm aware of the =UPPER() formula but need to have the text in uppercase when its entered.

Also, in text validation is there a way that will only allow certain letters to be entered into a cell - ie E and D

    Any thoughts?

    1) You could use validation of type Custom and enter the following formula (assuming it's for cell A1):

    =EXACT(A1,UPPER(A1))

Text that is not all in upper case will be refused.

If you want text to be converted to upper case automatically, see <post:=496,914>post 496,914</post:> by Legare Coleman.

    2) If you only want the user to choose from a limited number of items, create a list of the items elsewhere, and use validation of type List. Enter the address of the list in the box.
