    <img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17> The dates are on the X-Axis not the Y-axis. The Y-axis is the vertical one wth values...

    DId you sort the date field in the Pivot table? [If you attached a sample workbook it would be easier for us to diagnose the problem and detail the solution]

    Pivot Table Axis Order (Excel 2003)

    Edited by HansV to replace Word doc with cropped version of the screenshot it contained - saves the reader some clicks

    Hi,

    Ive got a pivot table that is populated by a macro and all works fine, except the values going along the Y axis is not particularly in date order.

    When the macro imports data into excel it sorts the date column into date order but this doesnt seem to stick when shown in the pivot table and I cant seem to find anything to correct it. Has anyone got any tips please??

    Ive enclosed a screen shot of the table for ease of reference.

    Regards.

    Re: Pivot Table Axis Order (Excel 2003)

    Hi,

    I did wonder about the x,y axis names, its been many years since Ive dealt with this type of graph !!

    Im trying to attach the workbook, but I keep getting a message saying that it is too large to post to the lounge, even though Ive compressed the contents, any ideas ?

    Best Regards.

    Try deleting some or most of the data, and create a zip file containing the workbook, then attach the zip file. The size limit for attachments is 100 KB.

    Re: Pivot Table Axis Order (Excel 2003)

    You can specify that the date field should be sorted:
    - Right-click anywhere in the Date column of the pivot table.
    - Select Field Settings... from the popup menu.
    - Click Advanced...
    - Specify Ascending (or Descending), then OK your way out.

    The corresponding macro instruction is
    <code>
    Worksheets("Pivot Format").PivotTables(1).PivotFields("Date").AutoSo rt _
    Order:=xlAscending, Field:="Date"</code>
