I'd like to keep my excel open together with word file, and able to re-check both.
any suggestion?

You can arrange the windows side by side. If Word and Excel are the only non-minimized applications you have open, you can right-click an empty part of the Windows task bar and select Tile Windows Horizontally or Tile Windows Vertically from the popup menu.
