    formatting more than one picture at once (2003)

    I'm merging photos into a booklet in Word using the IncludePicture command. Is there a way to format all the pictures at once with layout of square? Even though I set my options to insert photos as Square, this doesn't seem to work when using IncludePicture. So I'm hoping I don't have to format each picture one by one...help!

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

    You can place the following macro in a module in your Normal.dot template. It will then be available in every document.

    Sub ConvertPictures()
    Dim i As Integer
    On Error GoTo ErrHandler
    For i = ActiveDocument.Fields.Count To 1 Step -1
    If ActiveDocument.Fields(i).Type = wdFieldIncludePicture Then
    ActiveDocument.Fields(i).InlineShape.ConvertToShap e.WrapFormat.Type = wdWrapSquare
    End If
    Next i
    Exit Sub
    ErrHandler:
    If Err = 91 Then ' not an inline shape
    Resume Next
    Else
    MsgBox Err.Description, vbExclamation
    End If
    End Sub

    This macro will convert all inline IncludePicture fields in the active document to a floating shape with square text wrapping. If you need to do this often, you can assign the macro to a custom toolbar button and/or keyboard shortcut.

    Hmm...well, this sort of worked for me. It did indeed convert my pictures into floating shapes...but all the pictures generated are the first one in the merge. Then, when I select all and hit F9, it shows the correct pictures but now they're inline again! What am I doing wrong? Here's how i'm inserting the pictures:

    {IncludePicture "C:Booklet{MERGEFIELD Photo}" d}

    Thanks for the help!

    I think you'll have to do this:
    - Perform the mail merge.
    - If necessary, update the pictures (F9).
    - Unlink them (Ctrl+Shift+F9)
    - Convert them to floating shapes
