linking to access for a cell (2003)

    Hello everyone,

Is there a way to link a cell to an access database field? For example, cell A5 will have a information that would be extracted from a record in Access. I am having the problem that the user wants to use excel in order to input data, but most of the information is going to be store in Access. Is there a way I can create something similar to a form in access in excel with subdatasheets? Any help would be great. Thanks.

You can use Data | Import External Data New Database Query to import data from a database. It will not be a "live" link, but you can specify that the data should be updated periodically, or you can click a button on the External Data toolbar.
You can import data from a table or query. The subdatasheet functionality isn't supported.

Thanks Hans. I was trying to see if I could use something like this instead of doing the formula you showed me in my post 648234 previously here. Thanks.

You cannot use formulas to refer to values in an Access table or query.

ok. Thanks. I think I will import the needed data into a sheet and then export to access. Thanks again.
