    and another merge question! (2003)

    In this brilliant booklet i'm making, each page has a different person, and i'm merging bio info and their picture. But I want the very first page and the very last page to be the cover. So how do i set it up so that only one cover total prints, and not one for each new merge record?

    Thanks!

    Either add the cover pages after performing the mail merge, or create a separate document with three pages: front cover, blank page, back cover. On the blank page, insert a link to the merged document (using an InsertText field).

    Okay, at the risk of wearing you out, Hans: I'm actually building booklets for 50 different class years of alumni from our college. The cover will say Class of {MERGEFIELD classyear} . If i try the second technique you mentioned above, is there an easy way to have the includeText field automatically update to pull the merged document that corresponds with that class year?

    You should be able to include a MERGEFIELD in the file name used by INCLUDETEXT, similar to the way you do for INCLUDEPICTURE:

    { INCLUDETEXT "Book{ MERGEFIELD ClassYear }.doc" }

    If ClassYear is 1999, this will pull up the document Book1999.doc.
