Slow type on laptop in OL (XP Pro SP2)

My Dad's laptop started a week or two ago with a long delay in typing only in Outlook. If you type something, it won't display for about 5-10 seconds, then catches up. I tried doing a full AV scan, spam detection, compacted the files in OL. Then all of a sudden it worked fine for a few hours, then started up again. I thought I had fixed something.

I can't think of why it would be doing this. Any ideas or places to check? All other programs work without delay and the Task Manager Performance is normal with nothing pegging the meter or anything.

See thread starting at <post:=649,311>post 649,311</post:> and see if anything there helps.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Wow, didn't realize that it was a huge issue with many people. That's Microsoft for 'ya.
I ended up changing Outlook to go directly to Outlook Today first and that did the trick so far. Very strange!
