    Insert formulas (2007)

How does one insert a formula without using the <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0> drop down list?

As most of you know I am not a Excel user, but the wife is. She has been trying to use Office 2007 and it is driving her up the wall. We have not been able to figure out the above question.

Could you post a s small screenshot of the dropdown list for those of us not yet using Excel 2007?

In earlier versions, you simply select a cell, then start typing the formula, starting with =.

When done per your instructions, the drop down list appears.

See if you can turn that behavior off under the 2007 equivalent of Tools | Options, most likely a General or Error Checking dialog (in 2003, they are tabs in one dialog).

Well, that must be new in Excel 2007. In previous versions, the function wizard only appears on demand (when you click on the fx button). Hopefully someone who has Excel 2007 can tell you how to avoid it.

If you turn off "Formula AutoComplete", you shouldn't get a function dropdown list in the cell itself, but I see no option to turn off the automatic appearance of the formula wizard.

That took care of the cell drop down, now how to kill that Wizard!

Thanks, the wife will like that.
