    Cannot open Database (2003)

I have three users that share a database. Two can open the database. The third gets a message saying: this database has been placed in a state by <user> on machine <name> that prevents it from being opened or locked. The database is not split. It resides on a shared drive that all three have access to - RW. The third person in this case is the owner of the drive. All we have on the database is a password. No other security.
If anybody has any idea what to do, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance,

I'd start by splitting the database and giving each user an individual copy of the frontend database. See WendellB's tutorial Why Split a Database?
