OL 2007 woes (ie slow) (2007)

Does anyone know have any info on the performance problems with OL 2007? It's been out for 6 months, long enough for it's first service pack and still the performance problems reported by numerous users, persist. All during the beta versions testers complained about performance issues with OL so it's not like this problem came out of no where. I have to believe that Microsoft knowingly distributed the performance plagued OL even though it would be problematic for many. Does anyone who followws this board have any additional info on the OL 2007 performance issue? I'd love to know if Microsoft (at least internall if not externally) has acknolwedged its a real problem that needs serious attention now and an appopriate solution soon. I use to work for a software company (no where near as nig as M$) and I know the hesitation to acknowledge a bug or significant problem in the software for fear of backlash from customers but the current performance woes are making the product truely unusable.

I just downloaded and installed the last hot fix for OL 2007. If this doesn't get OL working for me, at least at a reasonable pace, then I'm going to have to roll back to OL2003 and I really don't want to do that. I really love Ol 2007, all but the performance woes andd would be willing to deal with bugs and other isssues so long as the product is at least usable. Any additional info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Ed

    Thanks in advance to
    --FYI--
Some users have been able to correct all or some of their performance issues by doing one or more of the following:

    - Installing the OL hot fixes/updates
    - Unchecking/unloading all the various OL Add-ins (Tools->Trust Center, Addins, Select Com-Addins -> Clik Go, Deselect all but Windows Search)
    - Reducing size of PSt file via cleanup of file

I'm not sure what you mean by "performance problems". I've been running Office 2007 on 2 machines (Vista) for a few months now and I've had no issues. Both are new machines and this may make a difference, but to date I'm very happy with the performance.

Not Office 2007, just Outlook 2007. Do a search on Google using OL 2007 & Slow and you'll see a lot of examples of user horror sstories. If you have a new or realtively small pst file you may not be experiencing perofrmance issues with OL.

    I believe Outlook 2007 is a component of Office 2007? <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

In any event, I was referring to Outlook. I have a relatively large pst file (imported from OL2003) and have not encountered problems. What are the particular "performance" issues that you are having problems with? There may be some who are having problems but I have not experienced this.

Re: OL 2007 woes (ie slow) (2007)

OL2007 is a component of Office 2007 but in your prior post you referred to Office 2007 (the suite) and not Outlook (A compnent of the suite) and so I wanted to reiterate that the performance issues are only with OL and no other part of Office 2007.

The performance issue in OL2007 is common enough that Microsoft posted an update/fix for it; see Microsoft KB933493.

Unloading every Addin in OL and removing SBCM (Small Business Contact Manager) seems to have made a huge diffeence however OL still has intermitent lockups and slow response times. It also appears to have effected other components of the Office 2003 suite. When upgrading to Office 2007 I choose to keep Word & Excel 2003 (for work related purposes) and not install Excel or Word 2007; leaving only the 2003 versions for Word & Excel on my system. When I go to open Excel or Word, they now often hang for several minutes. In the case of Excel, when I double-click on an XLS file, Excel launches and finally opens after 1 - 2 minutes but it usually does not load/open the XLS file ) double-clicked on. This started happening after I installed Office 2007.

    Thanks
    Ed

Re: OL 2007 woes (ie slow) (2007)

Well as I said earlier, I have not experienced any performance issues. I have two machines with 2007 running. With one, I left Access 2003 installed AND also installed Access 2007. On the other I left Access 2003 installed and did NOT install Access 2007. In both instances, I have not encountered any problems whatsoever. I can't offer any help, but perhaps someone else will have some suggestions.
