    event viewer (xp - current)

about 2 hours ago I was working on system and heard a very loud "pop" the screen went dark and the system stopped. I rebooted and got to the win logo and it happened again. I shut everything down and ate supper - waited about 2 hours and rebooted - the win boot process came up with the black boot screen where you have several options about how to start (safe mode, etc) I just said start normally to see where it would go.

Boot appeared to be normal but firefox told me it had shut down with a problem, firefox appears normal at this time.

I tried to run event viewer to see what had happened, but the only items were a couple of weeks old {probably last reboot} and the current boot data.

Is there any where else I can look to see what happened?

    Thanks

    Tom

Did you check inside the PC? Since it worked after you let it sit for a couple of hours I'd suspect an overheating problem. Could be a fan gone bad or a power supply dying.
