    Auto answer Do you want to update links? (Excel 2000)

    Is there a way to automatically answer the message box which comes up when a spreadsheet has links to another spreadsheet? I would like to add a macro to This Worksheet or some other way to automatically answer this prompt.

    Thanks,
    Dave S

    Hi Dave

    It really depends whether you want to update or not.

    If you want to update, you can turn off the message within the Options dialogue box. Tools menu, down to Options and then go to the Edit tab. 'Ask to update automatic links' can be unchecked - no more dialogue box.

    If you dont want to update (or you want to control whether it updates of not), the only way I have managed in the past is to call the sheet from another sheet and toggle the Updatelinks argument, such as:

    Workbooks.Open FileName:="c:book2.xls", Updatelinks:=False

    But there may well be an easier way.

    Thanks for your help

    Guy,
    Thanks for your answer. After searching through this and other sites, I was coming to the conclusion that I really couldn't write a macro to do this. Your suggestions are the best that I could find anywhere.

    Thanks again for your reply.
