    Changing headers (Word 2003 SP2)

I'm using a template for stationery with a header and footer, but want to use the header/footer only on the first page of a letter. I used to know how to do this with section breaks but haven't used headers/footers/section breaks in several years.

You can tick the 'First page different' check box in the Layout tab of File | Page Setup...
Insert a page break in the letter temporarily, and make sure that the first page header and footer are set the way you want them, and that the header and footer on the second page (and all subsequent pages) are empty. You can then remove the page break; the settings will still be saved with the document.
