    Toolbars (Word 2003)

The Control Toolbox Toolbar is now a default toolbar when I open Word. I would like to change this, but I can't seem to figure out how. I remember in previous version of Office, I deleted the Normal.dot file and this solved my problem. Not sure if thats still applicable. I searched for normal.dot, but did not find anything.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Select Tools | Customize...
    Activate the Toolbars tab.
Clear the check box for Control Toolbox.
    Click Close
    Quit Word.

If the toolbar comes back when you restart Word, it's time to take a look at Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word,197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word<!/post>.

The toolbar did come back. I am still unable to find the normal.dot file. Any idea on why that could be?

Can you navigate into the Application Data subfolder here:

cocuments and SettingsYour User NameApplication DataMicrosoft...

? If not, you might not be viewing hidden files and folders. By default, search does not look in hidden folders.

    Re: Toolbars (Word 2003)

OK I was able to find normal.dot. I renamed it normal.old, reopened Word but still no luck.

I will have to try some of the other fixes in the link you suggested Hans.
