Word Virus /Bad Code etc (2003)

I am having an issue with Word. When I open a document, it will let me work for varying lengths of time before shutting the computer off.

I have been running antivirus software and it does not show this as a virus. I know that it is MicroSoft WORD specific.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    CPTGordie

Does it still happen if you open Word while holding down the Shift Key?

Did none of the steps in Phil Rabichow's post make the problem go away?

What makes you conclude that svchost.exe is the culprit?

Are you creating these tables in Word and entering the content yourself, or are you working with materials copied and pasted from other sources, such as Internet Explorer? The way Word works with web content can lead to issues because often it remains linked to the original source, rather than being copied into the document.

Do you have a sample problem document you can post for review? Maybe that will help isolate the problem. The file size limit here is 100K. If your file is larger, use a Zip archiving utility to compress it. Of course, you should remove any personal or confidential material before posting. Unless that solves the problem... no point posting a document that works fine. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
