    reg key to set standard toolbars on 2 rows (Word 2002 XP SR3)

    Is there a reg setting for Tools, Customise, Options, "Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows".

    This would need to be set for all office applications.

    Ive recorded a macro, however there was nothing recorded in the macro.

    many thanks diana

    It's no doubt set in one of the binary values in HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice10.0WordDa ta. These binary values are not easily interpreted or edited.

    The option is not exposed in the Word object model. However, you can write your own macros to change the position of the Standard and Formatting toolbars:

    Sub StandardFormattingSameRow()
    With CommandBars("Formatting")
    .Position = msoBarTop
    .RowIndex = 2
    End With
    With CommandBars("Standard")
    .Position = msoBarTop
    .RowIndex = 2
    .Left = 0
    End With
    End Sub

    Sub StandardFormattingTwoRows()
    With CommandBars("Standard")
    .Position = msoBarTop
    .RowIndex = 2
    .Left = 0
    End With
    With CommandBars("Formatting")
    .Position = msoBarTop
    .RowIndex = 3
    .Left = 0
    End With
    End Sub

    The same macros work in PowerPoint.
    They work in Excel too, but incomprehensibly (to me), their action is reversed - the StandardFormattingTwoRows macro displays the two toolbars on one row.
    They don't work in Outlook - the CommandBar object in Outlook doesn't have Position and RowIndex properties.

    Have you checked the administrative templates in the Office Resource Kit? I changed computers and no longer have the Office XP ORK installed, but you can download it and review the .adm templates by starting here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/or...362921033.aspx
