    Repagination -active document only (2002/SR2)

    Hello -

If I have more than 1 document opened and click Show/Hide, Word will repaginate ALL opened docs. Is there any way to control this so the Toggle works only on the Active doc?

    Thank you.

How do you notice this? I opened 10 multi-page documents and toggled Show/Hide several times, but I didn't see anything special in the status bar.

Do you have automatic hyphenation turned on? If so, this might cause pagination to change when you toggle the display of non-printing characters.

    Hans -

I checked the automatic hyphenation in all the documents that I had been working on yesterday and none had that feature on.

When I work on long documents and the repagination comes on, it slow things down.........

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I'm afrraid I have no explanation (and automatic hyphenation was the only suggestion I found in the newsgroups). I hope someone else can shed light on this.

In the meantime, you could take a look at Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word,197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word<!/post> - perhaps an add-in is causing the behavior you describe.

    Afternoon -

I had checked add-ins and no problem there.

Guess I'll have all documents in Normal View, then when I need to for editing purposes, etc., I'll toogle Show/Hide.

Re: Repagination -active document only (2002/SR2)

    Hi, again -

As an experiment, I put one of the files I'm working on simultaneously with others in a different folder.

When I clicked Show/Hide on the document I was currently working on, that and the other file in the same folder were, according to Status Bar, repaged.. No "mention" of the file outside of that folder.

    Perhaps I'm on to something???????????

Very strange. And if you put all those documents in the other folder?

Re: Repagination -active document only (2002/SR2)

    Hi -

Well, putting the files in another folder did not work. When I toggle Show/Hide, it affects all files, regardless of folder.

    Thanks for your interest,
    Curious
