You can link the text box to a cell in another workbook:
    - Select the text box.
    - Enter the appropriate formula in the formula bar.
    - Instead of typing the entire formula, you can also type =, then activate the other workbook and point to the cell.
    - You should end up with something like

    =[Book2]Sheet1!$B$2

If you want to paste the contents of cells, you'll have to do it as follows:
    - Double click a cell to edit its contents.
    - Select the entire contents.
    - Press Ctrl+C to copy.
    - Activate the other workbook.
    - Click in the text box.
    - Press Ctrl+V to paste.

    Hi Hans

Thank you for your prompt reply, I should have explained better.

The cells I want to copy are formulas and the cells are protected, hence the need to paste values, I can select and Ctrl+C but then in the other workbook clicking in the text box does not allow me to paste special values

The linking is not an option in the case.

Can you explain why you want to paste cell values into a text box?

Make sure the clipboard is visible, copy the cells you want, click in the text box (I am assuming a text box from the Drawing toolbar) then click the object you want to paste from the clipboard.

Re: Paste cell into Text Box (Excel 2002/2003)

    Hi Rory

Thanks for the suggestion, I think Hans question is quite pertantent why a text box, to simplify things, I have just unprotected a range of cells and removed the gridlines and added a border.

    Looks like a Text Box but isn't <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Many thanks to both yourself and Hans
