To: field in advanced find (WinXP OL2003)

when I use 'advanced find' to locate emails etc, I mostly want to see who i sent an email to. This is often when finding related emails, ie the reply I sent, where I see the message 'click here to find related emails'. However, the advanced find results, whilst listing From: and things like In Folder: dosnt show the To: field unless I put it there by hand every time. Can I set it up so that the To: field always appears in such list? It would be good to have it visible all the time everywhere.
    Thanks in advance. Frank

Frank, it's annoying that customization of the Advanced Find "found item" window doesn't stick. The only way I know of to get "sticky" customizations of Advanced Find is to:

Save the Search via File | Save Search in the Adv Find window, and

retrieve the saved Search in the Adv Find window via File | Open Search

... and that's almost as much work as recustomizing the Adv Find window every time. HTH.

Oh Dear! I can feel a letter to that nice Mr Gates coming on .........
Is a saved search any good, given that I will have different stuff to search for every time? What about a macro, recording all the steps needed to re-customise and triggered by a key shortcut? I will try that and see what happens. Thanks anyway. Frank

A saved search also sticks to settings saved, including the folder it was run on, so is somewhat inflexible. It might work for you if you are always looking in a common folder such as your Inbox, and if you save the search with empty parameters, such a blank subject line, which you complete when you reopen the saved search. Otherwise, you should probably look into Search Folders or Filters. And letters to Mr. Gates. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

And more bad news: Outlook doesn't record macros. And Advanced Find is implemented a bit differently in Outlook VBA, the AF dialog is not exposed, so you'd need to write extensive code and probably a custom userform as an interface. Will you be posting that code on Monday? <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

I think I may just use a third party macro programme, I have a few freeware or trial ones hanging around. I can't be the first one to want to do this.
