Picture stills to slideshow

Good afternoon,

I have a collection of pictures that I would like to display in PowerPoint as a looping avi file, can anybody reccomend software (preferably freeware as this is a project for myself) where I can just click the pictures (drag or whatever) to some sort of stack that would then play them?

Thanks

Steve

Why do you need an .avi file? It can all be done in PowerPoint itself. PowerPoint 2002 and later have Insert | Picture | New Photo Album. You can specify automatic transition from slide to slide in Slide Show | Slide Transition... and looping in Slide Show | Set up Show...

Another option to consider is Microsoft's Photo Story. You can make a movie file (.wmv) out of it with fancy transititions and make it look like there is movement.

It is a download from MS and is free.

I haven't tried this myself, but found it recently for my daughter.
She has no complaints, so (in theory) that must mean it must be flawless in the "perfect world" sense of the word.

Re: Picture stills to slideshow

Thanks for your input Hans, using this method however makes a slideshow of its own whereas I wanted to display it in PP as a movie type file so that other things can be going on within the page, Dennis solution however fitted the bill perfectly.

Thanks again

Thank you, excellent solution, slight drawback insofar as you must have WMP 10 which when you try to download is now WMP 11, apart from that (I have been cling onto version 7 for ages) it is great

Cheers

Is this method of any use to you: PowerPoint Tips: Control movies with buttons?

So... which suggestion was the one that met your needs? Sorry, I tried to follow the thread but got confused.

As far as I can tell, the suggestion to use Photo Story in <post:=654,049>post 654,049</post:> by johbot (mistakenly called Dennis, but Steve explains that)

Re: Picture stills to slideshow

If you are prepared to accept a standalone program rather than PowerPoint, I would suggest LPJ Slideshow, which can be run from an auto-loading CD (or not, as you prefer!). Lots of useful options in the INI file. (The author's domain seems to have expired, which is why I point to PC Word's website.) All it does is display graphics images files (surprise?!), so it may not fit all your requirements...

Ita, esto, quidcumque...
