    remove favorites Icon from Desktop

This is more of an annoyance than a real problem.

My Dell came with the Favorites Icon glued to the Desktop - but it's the folder, not a shortcut. Trying to remove it results in the dreaded "This is a Windows System Folder, removing it may cause the end of all life as we know it." I'd prefer not to have it on my DT, especially as I primarily use FireFox.

I looked around and after copying the Favorite Folder contents to the new location, attempted the following Registry value change:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVe rsionExplorerShell Folders
    from
    Cocuments and Settings<me>DesktopFavorites
    to
Cocuments and Settings<me>Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftInternet ExplorerFavorites

It didn't work. Can anyone advise?

Try dragging the folder in Windows Explorer from Cocuments and Settings<me>Desktop to its new location (why in Local Settings, BTW)?

<img src=/S/stupidme.gif border=0 alt=stupidme width=30 height=30> That was an embarrassingly obvious solution, thanks, Hans. (Ah, because I wanted it somewhere logically aligned with the product it serves ... ?)

I just asked because the "default" location is Cocuments and Settings<me>Favorites.
I use a roaming profile at work. If I put Favorites in Local Settings, they wouldn't travel with me from PC to PC.
