    Red X (IE6/SP2)

    Hello -

On certain web pages, I get the Red X. I downloaded Java, Standard Edition 6; turned on cookies and allowed pop-ups for the page I wanted to see.

    Scripting options are all Enabled.

Run ActiveX cntrols & plug-in: Enabled
Script Activex Controls makred safe: Enabled

    Allow script-initiated windows without size

Can you give one or two examples of web addresses where this occurs?

Thanks. Which parts of the picture below are displayed as red Xs in your browser? (if you can see the picture below, of course <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>)

    Hans -

When I click on Try My Room Planner and a new page loads, that's when I get the Red X. (I do not get the numbers as shown on your page.)

The picture in my previous reply is an edited screenshot - I added the numbers. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>
The page you mean uses the Adobe Flash Player. You can download/install it here (free)

    Thank you, Hans!

How did you know it was the Flash Player I needed? Prior to posting, I hadI right clicked the X to see if I could do my own detective work, and came up empty-handed.

Now that I'm "in business," would you advise removing Java?

    Many, many thanks,

    Curious

Some sites use Java. I can't think of any reason you would want to remove it.

    I right-clicked the page and saw "About Adobe Flash Player 9.0" in the popup menu... <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
I'd leave Java, you might need it some day.
