'Unpublished Work' in flash screen (Office XP Special Edition)

Microsoft has tried to help me on this but can't.

I purchased my copy of Office XP Special Edition at Costco at full retail price. It is a legal copy.

On all the apps on which I installed the XP Trial Version the flash screen displays 'Unpublished Work' on the first line of the copyright data at the bottom of the screen. This bothers me as I'm afraid it will go into 'Reduced Mode' when the trial version was set to expire. It's on all apps but Publisher, which was not included in the trial version. (I admit it was a big mistake to try the trial version <g>

Microsoft has tried to help me with this incident report and finally assured me it wouldn't expire and go into reduced mode but I don't feel comfortable about it.

I probably have uninstalled and reinstalled Office XP at least ten times with no change. I want to avoid having to reformat my hard drive and be faced with 'Activation Hell.'

This doesn't seem fair because this was a legally purchased version.

Did you uninstall the trail version before installing the real version?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

unfortunately, unless you followed the instructions for upgrading from trial to full, you may not have much choice in the matter.

i didn't have the trial version, so i can't say what they are - if upgrading works or a uninstall was necessary.

when is the trial supposed to expire?

Frankly, I can't remember exactly. I DO remember it asking if I wanted to uninstall previous versions of Office and I said Yes.

I had both Office 2000 Professional and the Trial Version on my machine before I installed the real XP version. I did follow the instructions explicitly and I believe that it really did uninstall both the Office 2000 and the Trial Version (2 separate uninstalls) before the installation would continue.

I think I saw somewhere that the Trial Version would expire in September or October.
