For some odd reason some of my file names are in blue text , l have no idea how this happened!
This is occurring for ms office files in all file formats. i.e in word files, excel files etc.

Have a look at the Properties of one of the Blue Files. That colour often indicates that the file is Compressed. See for example here...
    <font face="Script MT Bold"><font color=blue><big><big>John</big></big></font color=blue></font face=script>

    Ita, esto, quidcumque...

Is there any way to uncompress them so that the text colour is back to default?

Go back to where you were in Properties, click on Advanced, and remove the tick in front of "Compress contents to reduce disk space". Reply appropriately to the message which asks whether you want the uncompress to apply just to this folder, or to this folder and all lower-level ones.
