    Keep Word Open (Word 2007)

I have a user who has made the following request.

Is there some way to keep word OPEN with no document open? Every time I copy from a file, close the file and want to open a new file (command N), the application itself has already closed.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Perhaps the user is closing Word inadvertently, by closing the "document" using the red X on the application window frame. If so, does using File>Close help?

(Actually, I don't have Word 2007 on this computer, so I'm not sure where "File>Close" resides in Word 2007.)

I don't have Word 2007 but I would have thought that Ctrl-W would do the job. Does that work for you?

To CLOSE a document one needs to go to the "Office" button and select close, the close Document "x" has been removed.
The "Ctrl-W" works but I would and have added the "Close" command to the "Quick Access Toolbar".

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Keep Word Open (Word 2007)

The quick access toolbar was a fine suggestion, and it is interesting that while 'open' is readily available, 'close' is something you really have to dig for. It is in 'more commandsall commands' (where 'popular commands' is the default), and the number of available commands is vast.

This sent me scrambling to my Word 2003 installation to check my toolbar customizations, and I must say that I like the job Microsoft did with the ribbon, once you get used to it. It even has a paragraph icon for those who want paragraph marks. Good suggestion.
