    Monitor won't come back on!

    Hi,
I purchased a HP computer package awhile back and I noticed that if I am away from the computer for at least 5 minutes, the monitor shuts off. I thought it was some type of power saving mode but the only way to get the monitor back on is to turn off the power bar and turn it back on. Rebooting the computer or trying to turn the monitor off and on do not do anything. What could this problem be and any suggestions on how to solve it?

I'm not sure what a "power bar" is, but if turning off the power to the monitor didn't help I am guessing that you have to turn off the power to the PC to get this working again, is that correct?

This sounds very strange. The only thing I can think of is that the computer puts the monitor into a power saving mode and it has a fault that prevents it from coming back on again. To test this theory could you have a look at your power saving settings and making sure that you don't enable monitor power saving.

Further to Stuart's post, also in Power Options, do you have Hibernate disabled?
And checked Advanced options as below?

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!
