    Page numbers (Word 2000 (9.0.6926 SP-3))

I am using WinXP Home Sp 2. I have created a very long (185 pages) document. Early on I decided to insert Page Numbers at the bottom centre of each page. Now I would like to DELETE those page numbers and renumber the pages. Is there some way I can Delete all of the existing numbers at once instead of having to delete each number individually?

Are you saying that you did NOT use the page numbering built into Word?

I DID use the Word system to Insert Page Numbers. Now I would like to Delete all the page numbers and then Insert NEW numbers as the arrangement of pages has changed.
HOW can I DELETE all the Page Numbers??

Select View | Header and Footer.
If the page numbers are in the footer, click the Header or Footer button on the toolbar.
Click on the page number. If a border appears around it, click on the border. Then press Delete.

Since you used the built in page numbering, all you need to do is move the "information" to the correct location in the file and the page number will re-page to the correct numbering.

Mucho Gracias Hans. That worked for me.
Once again The Lounge has solved a problem for me.
