don't show formula results on blank cells (XP sr2)

I have a spred sheet to record the date and amount of a payment against a loan. I have the cells compute the actual days between payments in order to have an accurate principal/interest amount. This works fine. However the next line down, where the next payment will go, it tries to compute the number of days, and since these cells are blank, returns the -39246 value and then computes the remaining cells with that data. I would like to clean this sheet up so that it doesn't compute null values. Forgive me if this has been asked, I couldn't think of the wording to search an answer.
I attached a sample showing this.
    thanks,
