    Alternate rows (2002)

    I have a block of data which has been imported. I need a formula to enter and copy down column B that will retrieve the information that is in every alternate row. That is, information in A2 should appear in B1, information in A4 should appear in B3, etc.. Any ideas? Thanks, Andy.

    Shouldn't the value of A4 appear in B2 instead of B3? If so, enter the following formula in B1 and fill down:

    =OFFSET($A$1,ROW()*2-1,0)

    No, I believe I'm right.. So that we'll eventually need to also delete every alternate (now redundant) row. Andy.

    Does this do what you want (enter in B1 and fill down)?
    <code>
    =IF(MOD(ROW(),2)=1,A2,"")</code>

    Actually, there may also be away to use a feature called Row/ column differences that will assist me in deleting every alternate row?!

    See <post:=266,585>post 266,585</post:> for some ideas on how to delete alternating rows. There are both code and non-code solutions.
