    Work Order Log (Excel 2000)

I have a Work Order Sheet created but would like to have a drop down list with the "set options" so only those can be chosen and input. I know once the data is entered you can right click in the cell and choose "pick from list", but is there a way to have those there prior to actually typing them into the worksheet?

    You could use Data-Validation.
Click on the cell that you want the drop down in
Click on Data (at the top)
    Click on Validation
    Click on Settings
    Under Allow pick list
Under source type in the list items separated with a comma---Red,Blue,Green etc.

Do I have to do each cell individually or is there a way to apply it to the whole column?

Select the whole column by clicking on the letter at the top

I have a header row though. Is there a way to edit my selections once they have been input? I tried going back into the list to edit it and it put in all these formulas????

Re: Work Order Log (Excel 2000)

I need to go deeper now. I have one row with the heading of "area" which I input the drop down list as told and it works great! Now, my next column has a heading of "segment". I want a drop down list for this column too, but there are too many segments which are subcategories of the "area". Is there a way to have a formula stating that anything between the 100 area is segment number 105, 110, 115? I need this for each area. I appreciate all the help!!! <img src=/S/clapping.gif border=0 alt=clapping width=19 height=23>

Check out the technique at MS MVP Debra Dagliesh's page on Data Validation -- Dependent Lists
