# Thread: Sum multiple tables (Word 2003)

1. ## Sum multiple tables (Word 2003)

Good Morning.
I have been working on a formula for summing multiple table for a few day now. I have attempted to bookmark the tables and reference them in my formula but go no calculation. This is my formula with B7 and B6 containing the SUM of TableJK and TableA {=SUM(TableJK B7) + SUM(TableA B6)}

This is a pretty pressing issue and I have spent way too much time on it...so that's why I'm asking the experts.

Please advise.
Your assistance is appreciated.

Have a look at the examples in World Field Maths and see if they help you.

StuartR..thanks for the reply.

Yes, I've copy and pasted the formulas for the examples and created new bookmarks to match the formulas...but no luck.

4. ## Re: Sum multiple tables (Word 2003)

Select the cell containing the sum in TableJK.
Select Insert | Bookmark, enter a name such as SumOfTableJK and click OK.
Do the same for TableA.

Click where you want to add the sums together.
Press Ctrl+F9 to insert field braces { } (don't type them yourself).
Type =, then press Ctrl+F9 again.
Type the name of the first bookmarj (SumOfTableJK).
Click after the first closing brace.
Type +, then press Ctrl+F9 again.
Type the name of the second bookmark.
Press F9 to hide the field codes and to update the result.

Hans, Thank you...Thank you!!!! One other question...how do I modify the formula? Do I need to start over?

Press Alt+F9 to display the field codes. You can edit the formula as needed. Then press Alt+F9 to hide the field codes again. You may have to select the result and press F9 to update it.
