MS Word (XP SBE)

Hi everyone:

Running into what seems like a profile specific problem. I've got a user who has MS Word SBE (Small Business Edition) and she has a couple of things going on. First, when she tries to open a file from a folder location by double clicking on it, Word opens but no document opens at all. However, if she chooses File, Open, navigates to the .doc file, it will open fine. The other problem is once the file is open, she cannot drag her mouse and highlight anything. She can click and drag, but no highlighting takes place. To be more clear, the pointer moves as she wants it to, but no highlighting takes place.

When I or anyone else logs in with their own domain user account, none of these problems occur. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: MS Word (XP SBE)

Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

About the first problem: let the user try the following:
- Quit all instances of Word.
- Select Start | Run...
- Type
winword /r

- Press Enter or click OK.
She should then try to open a document from Windows Explorer.

About the second problem: work through the steps in Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word,197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word<!/post> with the user.
