The network-based Cloudmark spam filter has always been one of my favorite programs for removing spam. It has good spam detection rates, but its best feature is that it virtually never classifies your real mail as spam. Unfortunately, Cloudmark has only been available for Outlook and Outlook Express. Not any more; it’s now available for the Thunderbird email client as well. Combine it with the Thunderbird’s excellent built in Bayesian spam filter and I suspect spam in your in-box will become a rarity. It’s not free – it costs $39.95 per year for a license covering two PCs. It’s worth every cent; that’s why I have it on my laptop and my wife’s PC as well. Commercial software, trial available, Windows 2000-Vista, 3.5MB. http://www.cloudmark.com/serviceproviders/media/releases/?release=2007-12-03
