Recently, British writer and comedian James Veitch told a TEDTalks audience about his email correspondence with a spammer who offered him a get-rich scheme involving gold.

Veitch shared great exchanges from the back-and-forth conversation on this video — and also suggested that you, too, should consider engaging with your spammers on line. Why? Every moment you’re wasting a scam artist’s time, some vulnerable person isn’t being bilked of his or her savings.

One practical bit of advice from Veitch, should you take up his style of public service: don’t write joke emails to criminals using your regular email account. Click below or go to the original YouTube video.
