1. ## Lottery Tickets (XP)

I'm in a large pool of lottery players, and I'm the guy who has to check the tickets to see if we have any winners. We will be playing for 25 weeks, each week playing the numbers in the attached file. I want to automate the process of finding and counting the number of matches between my tickets and the winning numbers. I've programmed stuff like this before, but not in Excel.

Each week, five numbers are drawn, plus a sixth, the "Powerball." I want to enter these numbers in six cells somewhere on the worksheet, then have Excel find the matches in my array of tickets. (The rows on the worksheet are the numbers on each ticket.) A match on the Powerball is special, and needs to be noted. Matches on the other five numbers need to be highlighted, and preferably counted for each ticket.

If the matches are noted and counted for each ticket, I can take it manually from there.

Who can get me started?

Hi Lou

I remember Hans and Steve showing some excellent examples for the UK lottery, 6 balls + 1 bonus ball, the posts started at <post#=514340>post 514340</post#> , but I think the atachment suffered in the 'Big One' a few months back, I am pretty positive I have a copy on a disk at work and will post in a couple of hours if I can find it.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Lou

I had it on a disc at home, perhaps you can convert this to your own needs

Cheers

Got it! Thanks. I'll take a look right now.

5. ## Re: Lottery Tickets (XP)

I've looked at it now. Our lottery scheme is different. We draw five balls, and the sixth is a separate "bonus ball."

I'm thinking I can adapt what you sent, though.

I've adapted the spreadsheet to the Powerball lottery. Couldn't have done it without you. Thanks!

If there is any interest, I can un-customize it and post it up here.

I don't voluntarily give any of my money to the government so it would not help me! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
