1. ## Accumulative sum (2K3)

I am having a logic block about accumulation of totals.
Column A = Distance in Miles
Column B = Elevation
Column C = Accumulated Ascent
Column D = Accumulated Descent

As you can imagine over a period of miles the Elevation will go up and down, depending on your training requirements for that run it is sometimes good to see the accumulated rise/descent of the entire run.

In Column C (Ascent) I have, starting at C3 the following formula:

=IF(B3>B2,(B3-B2)+C2,0)

This accumulates the value OK until it reaches a cell (C[n]) where C[n-1] is zero and the accumulation restarts from zero

Question is how can I keep the accumulation going up without resetting? Workbook attached

2. ## Re: Accumulative sum (2K3)

I have found a work around by adding a new column D and inserting this formula =C3+D2 in D3 and copying down, seems to work and enough to chart but would be good to see a formula

3. ## Re: Accumulative sum (2K3)

ps I hope this is not a circular route you are running, if so you ended up underground

4. ## Re: Accumulative sum (2K3)

Yep, that'll do nicely.

Making to self to work on the MIN and MAX stuff more
