I'm having fairly frequent occurrences of things appearing to hang on my laptop. I've used the Event Viewer to look at what has been happening and I get some puzzling results. My latest Error entry looks like this in the Administrative Events list:
Error 6/26/2008 9:51:54 PM Application Hang 1002 (101)

The program Explorer.EXE version 6.0.6001.18000 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Problem Reports and Solutions control panel. Process ID: 22c Start Time: 01c8d7f08ca8c935 Termination Time: 55
I had 3 of those errors yesterday!

The same event list contains a lot of the following kind of Warnings:
Warning 6/26/2008 11:05:21 PM User Profile Service 1530 None

Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

Of course, there are a lot more details listed with each of these errors. I can supply that info if it would be useful. There are no Warnings or Errors listed with today's date in the list I've been looking at. The list does include a couple of other kinds of errors. They are not repeated over and over so I have not listed them for you at this point. but I certainly can if that might help.

During the time last night that the errors above were occurring, I was running a Java program (DVArchive) that I like to use. I don't know if it is likely to be causing some or all of the problems.

I'll appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone can make.
