drop down populating drop down (access 2000)

In an effort to make my life easier, just after some advice as to the best approach really.

I have been tasked with creating a database in Access.

Basic premise is one list box of options, depending on which selection is made a second list box should be populated with only a finite range of options. after picking a single option from this box a third box is again populated with a finite list of options. In the end you get a specific field entry that matches all the chosen criteria.

To me the final bit is a query on the contents of the table based on the contents of the drop down boxes.

I am not sure about how to make each list box display only those items that are relevant based on the item selected in the previous list box. Would this be best achieved via VBA code or can you populate a list box based on the contents of a query of a list box?

You'd use a combination of queries and a bit of VBA.

See How to synchronize two combo boxes on a form in Access 2002 or in Access 2003. There are also several examples of cascading combo boxes in this forum, e.g. <post#=132,255>post 132,255</post#>.
