    Meta search with privacy

Some months ago I found a new search engine, and it has stayed in a corner in my bookmarks since then, I have only done a few searches from time to time yet, so no full review. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I don't think it has been mentioned here before.

Ixquick is a metasearch engine, and we can often find such in libraries etc. - in short you search many search engines at the same time (and of course metasearch has been around in several types over the years on the net).

As a search engine, well, many of us are so used to the big G now, it is a bit slower (after all it is a metasearch). They use stars in the result; a five star result means that five search engines agreed on the result etc.

They got a lot of mentioning about their privacy policy and this summer got the "First European Privacy Seal Awarded". User related personal data are deleted from the log files within a maximum of 48 hours, IP addresses are removed, and no Unique ID cookies, they tell us.

It is possible to save settings, select language (17) etc.

If you just want to search Google privately, try Scroogle:

As they say on their home page:
"no cookies | no search-term records | access log deleted within 48 hours"

They also use SSL and have an interesting write-up here:
