    Spam (Outlook 2003 SP3)

Between my ISP (Verio) and Outlook's spam filter I have reduced spam that reaches my In Box to 5 to 10 per day. Most spam that gets by the filters contain images that promote ** Spam post - please alert a Moderator **, etc. The images apparently mask words that are normally caught by my filters. I immediately right click on the offending email, select Junk Mail, and Add Sender to Blocked Senders List. I have been doing this for over a year but it does not appear to cut down on this type of spam that appears first as and image. When I look at these emails in my Junk E-mail folder I do not see an image but only a link to a website, which of course I would never click on. About once a day I permanently delete all the mail in my Junk E-mail folder.

You might use SpamBayes. After a bit of training, this free add-in is surprisingly efficient at catching spam.
Or relay your e-mail through Gmail - it has a very good spam filter.
