    I'm modifying a spreadsheet designed by a former colleague who's Excel skills exceed mine by a generous margin. I'm attempting to add to a drop down menu that she set up and I'm failing. I found the place in the spreadsheet where the data for the list was kept and added a few lines. This didn't work. I tried right clicking on the cell that has the drop-down and choosing "create list" from the shortcut menu, but the data for the list is in a separate tab and the "create list" function refuses to see any other tabs in the spreadsheet.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Try defining a named range and using that.
