# Thread: Pointing to cells with mathematical formulas

1. Hi, I have a very specific question
I have a cell referencing to

='404 Select'!E70

I want to use a global formula to point for others cells in a logical manner. I get the equation

='404 Select'!E((this row number-9)/5*61)+70

How can I make Excel understand that, if possible at all?

2. Such as:

=INDIRECT("'404 Select'!E"&ROW()-9)/5*61+70

or

=INDIRECT("'404 Select'!E"&ROW()-9/5*61+70)

? You will need to to test for row reference validity, since row numbers less than one are invalid, and must be integers (no fractions).

=INDIRECT("'404 Select'!E"&ROW()-9)/5*61+70

or

=INDIRECT("'404 Select'!E"&ROW()-9/5*61+70)

Thanks, the second one worked perfectly. You've saved me at least 12 hours of number crunching =)
