    In our small office we store all our files on a simple network share. Office 2007 Pro is our only application suite and neither Sharepoint nor any other server software is involved. Recently, when opening some Word docs on the network share, it takes an eternity to load, it comes back with: "Server Document. A new version is available. To modify this document open the latest version or save a copy.” Server document?!

    Does anyone know why this might happen and, better yet, what to do about it? The docs with this issue are sporadic and I'm yet unable to determine a pattern or cause. Thanks in advance.

    Apparently this has puzzled other Loungers as well. Is it possible that the problem documents refer to a template path that is no longer available? This can be difficult to determine once the document has been opened, as Word may reset the path.
