I'm new to Windows 7 (as most people are, I suppose), and I'm confounded by the dozens and dozens of fonts I see in the dropdown list every time I need to select a font .... no matter what application I'm in.

In Windows XP, I'd narrowed down the list of fonts to a manageable level, but in Windows 7 that seems awfully hard to do. There seem to be scores of fonts related to non-English languages that Microsoft considers core fonts so it won't let me delete them.

Is there a simple application or an easy manual technique I can use to seriously whittle down this list of unwanted fonts?
