Trying to ween away from Comcast TV by setting up a HTPC. Nothing fancy just basic movies and TV shows and 2:1 sound.

I've glanced around here and didn't find much info so people must be using other forums (God forbid) for their expert knowledge.

    So, any recommendations?
I was trained on vacuum tubes.
Most everything I've worked on are in museums.
    Yea ... I'm old.

You might consider building one if your into biulding computers.
If not, then refine what you want from a Home media center PC by looking at reviews and gathering more information in general about the various components
that when put together make a decent HTPC.
Looking over reviews and guides are always a good place to start:

Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

Build your own system; get everything you want and nothing you don't.
