    Track Changes won't track by author (Word 2007)

    I have a document I received from outside our firm. It has tracked changes in it. We went into tracked changes and set to track changes by author. The changes we added showed my initials in the comments I added and tracked my changes in a different color UNTIL I saved it. Then everything reverted to the color and initials of the original author (the color and initials that were already in the document).

    Any suggestions for how to get this document keep my initials and colors after saving?

    The document may be set to clear identifying information. One symptom of this is that after saving the changes just say "Author" with no specific date-time stamp.

    To turn off that feature in a Word 97-2003 document (*.DOC), check here:

    Word Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options
