System: Windows Server 2003 w/SQL Server 2000.

We've begun experiencing a problem earlier today. If a remote computer running XP Pro connects to the server via VPN and tries to run a database application the ODBC connection fails. A Windows 7 Pro computer with the same ODBC settings, etc. works as it always has.

There have been no configuration changes to the remote PCs however, the server just had some updates applied. Other than the updates the system has run as it is for over one year.

I've tried recreating the ODBC connection on the XP machines and I get the same results. Anyone know if a recent update to Server 2003 may have created this problem?

How can I identify and back out recent updates to see if that may be the problem?
