    Processor Upgrade Questions

Hello. I'm wondering if I can upgrade my current processor, which is an AMD Turion 64 X2 RM-72 Mobile Processor to an AMD Turion 64 X2 ZM-86. They both use the same AMD S1 Socket, but I'm wondering if my computer can support it. If, not, then what is the maximum supported AMD Turion CPU for my computer?

I'll leave my computer specs here for your information.

    HP G60-243CL
    Windows 7 Professional x64 w/ SP1
Wistron 303C Motherboard with Phoenix BIOS ver. F54
    AMD Turion 64 X2 RM-72 Mobile Processor [S1 Socket]
    4GB Kingston SODIMM DDR2-800 RAM
    320GB Western Digital HDD @5400RPM

    More reference:

Any advice and suggestions much appreciated.

Go to the HP site and find out if the motherboard will support your choice of processor with the latest BIOS.
Glancing at your specs, it looks like it should. You should ask yourself if it is actually worth it.
Going from a single core to a dual core might be worth the upgrade.

Personally I'd recommend upgrading the whole PC when you can afford it. You will see much better return for your money.
If you PC is a dog it may be time to re-install from scratch - you'll be amazed at the improvement.

    cheers, Paul
